Proverbs 31:30
Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.
Hey there! I hope you’re ready to feel empowered by our valuable insights, practical tips and supportive network that help you excel in womanhood. 💪🏽💕
Today we are covering:
What is a traditional woman?
Modern day traditional woman.
What is a traditional woman?
The concept of a "traditional woman" can be somewhat subjective and can vary across different cultures and time periods. However, we're going to cover some common traits and expectations associated with traditional womanhood in marriage.
Describing a 'traditional' woman wouldn't be right if I didn't start with good ol' domestic responsibilities. 🤣. Traditionally, women were expected to be the primary caregivers and homemakers, responsible for tasks like cooking, cleaning, childcare, and managing the household. Though that still reigns true today and there's nothing wrong with it, in section 2 of this newsletter we will touch base on what a more modern day traditional woman looks like.
So, domestic responsibilities, deference to men, modesty and virtue, to name a few. This is the sum of a traditional woman.
Me personally, I love the traditional role with a few tweaks here and there. But just like everything else in this fallen world, humans had to mess things up. The traditional role also came with potential negative aspects.
Some of those are enforced domestic servitude and lack of economic and educational opportunities outside the home, expectations of unquestioning submission and deference to many male authority figures, invisibility and marginalization of women's voices and contributions in the public sphere.
It's like, they forgot the part where it says "love your wife as Jesus loved the church" 🤣 but that's another newsletter for another day.
One thing the devil will do is plant bad seeds.
Matthew 13:38-39:
"The field is the world, and the good seed stands for the people of the kingdom. The weeds are the people of the evil one, and the enemy who sows them is the devil."
But we have to stand true to God’s word.

Now, as I mentioned above, I love the traditional view of womanhood. I would consider myself very traditional. I feel it allows women to be "soft".
Scripture also loves the view of a traditional woman. Here are some scriptures that would support the role of a 'traditional wife':
Biblical submission:
Ephesians 5:22-24, "Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, as also Christ is the head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything".
When a man loves you properly, it isn't hard to submit. Women and men have equal worth, but due to the natures of humanity, we are both inherently different.
A wife builds her home:
The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down." (Proverbs 14:1)
This proverb contrasts a wise woman who builds up and maintains her household, versus a foolish woman who destroys it. It emphasizes the important role a wife and mother has in constructing and preserving a strong home. And that's in many ways beyond domestic responsibilities.
Modesty and virtue:
”Do not let your adornment be merely outward—arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel— rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God." (1 Peter 3:3-4)
This reinforces the principle that a wife's modesty and beauty should be reflected primarily in her inner spiritual life, not just outward appearances.
Sounds pretty traditional to me. I titled this section the "modern day traditional woman" because all the negative aspects of being a traditional woman have slightly diminished, and women now have opportunities that women once didn't have. I love and praise God that I can get my degree in psychology and run my business, but on the same side, I love nurturing my family and letting my husband lead us in the right direction financially, spiritually, etc. I love being a modern day traditional woman.

However you label it, just honor God in all you do.
"So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." (1 Corinthians 10:31).
